A wheelchair user since the age of 17, following a car accident in 2001, Bruno Mahfuz turned his experience with the absence of accessibility into an initiative with global reach.
In 2016, he founded Guiaderodas, initially conceived as a collaborative app to assess spaces from an accessibility perspective. The crowdsourcing-based platform was created to help people with disabilities, reduced mobility, older adults, and pregnant women plan their journeys with greater safety, comfort, and autonomy.
Over time, the app evolved and gave rise to a more modern and inclusive solution: Gui, an artificial intelligence that gathers accessibility data from around the world. Integrated with WhatsApp, it acts as a pocket assistant, making it quick and easy to find accessible places.
In addition to its public-interest technology solutions, Guiaderodas stands out for the Guiaderodas Certification, a program that recognizes and improves the best accessibility practices in companies and buildings, with a focus on the user experience.
